Born in Rama Village (Galilee) in 1947, Fr. Giris
(Jerius) was exposed and inspired throughout his
life by the Orthodox Church. Fr. Giris' ambition
in life was to serve the people, the church and
Our Lord Jesus Christ. His wishes were finally
answered. Fr. Giris was ordained a deacon and
then a priest on May 24,1995 by The Eparch of
Dioceasarea, Bishop Iakovos at the Church of
the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Fr. Giris always
stresses the importance of Fasting, Confessing
and following the beautiful and rich traditions
of the Holy Orthodox Church. With the growth of
Orthodox Christians in the Bay Area, St. James
Orthodox Church opened in 1995.
